Some companies allow you to put your social security number on your checks, even though it is no longer required.
If you are the proud owner of your own business, you can choose to do some extra advertising through your checkbook. There are companies that will put your business logo or trademark on your personal checks too. Consequently, when you use your check to pay a bill or buy your groceries, everybody who handles that check will be able to see your advertisement. This becomes free publicity since you would have had to order more checks anyways. Do not be afraid to live a little and start by customizing your next order of personal checks.
